Program Details

  • The Nurse Residency Program is accredited as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs.
  • The one-year residency curriculum is designed to expand the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to move from entry-level competence toward proficiency and expertise.
  • We integrate our Professional Practice and Care Delivery Model into the Nurse Residency Program to help our residents develop sound decision-making skills and clinical judgment.
  • Monthly professional development activities combine lectures, case studies, discussion groups, and hands-on experiences with educational sessions focusing on our residents’ clinical experience.
  • Interprofessional shadowing experiences help residents develop collegial relationships with patient care team members and allow them to better understand how those clinicians contribute to patient outcomes.
  • Our formal mentor program and carefully chosen preceptors provide residents with the support they need to experience a positive transition into nursing.
  • All residents complete an evidence-based practice or performance improvement project that integrates scientific and experiential evidence to enhance the culture of the hospital’s nursing practice and culture.
